Mr. Tim Hatcher, Director of Bands thatcher@psd202.org

Mr. Hatcher has been a music educator for over 20 years, including the past 12 years at Plainfield North High School. Before joining PNHS, he served as Director of Bands at Davenport Central High School in Davenport, Iowa.

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Mr. Hatcher earned a Bachelor of Science in Music from Oregon State University, where he was Drum Major of the OSU Marching Band, principal clarinetist of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and performed with the Corvallis-OSU Symphony. He later earned a Master of Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he served as a teaching assistant with the Marching Illini and performed with the University of Illinois Wind Symphony.

A freelance clarinetist, Mr. Hatcher has performed as an ensemble member, featured soloist, and in numerous stage productions. He is also a proud alumnus of the Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps, where he performed on baritone horn.

Mr. Hatcher’s contributions to music education have been recognized with multiple Citations of Excellence from the National Band Association, and he was named one of School Band and Orchestra Magazine’s "50 Directors Who Make a Difference." He remains active in the music education community as a clinician and adjudicator for band events.

In his free time, Mr. Hatcher enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, running, and geeking out over movies and games. He is a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs.

At PNHS, Mr. Hatcher leads the Marching Tigers, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Percussion Class, and Musical Orchestra.
